Last night we returned to our home base of the Walt Whitman HS Forum room. Did anyone notice that the high school has had a makeover since we were there last? It's good to be back, and to see that the lecturn we donated was ready for us. And we were ready for the room !!!. Here are some of the highlights.
While we had only one project speaker, the meeting was outstanding. 18 attendees (including 2 guests).
Paul delivered a great thought of the day. "It's better to have been prepared and not had an opportunity than to have had an opportunity and not been prepared." He delivered this thought as a "sandwich", of (1) thought, (2) supporting material, and (3) repeating the thought.
Melissa followed up with a word of the day sandwich - "serendipitous". Equally effective. How serendipitous for these two to have followed the same formula. In this case the supporting material was a personal story that really brought the word to life.
Diane helped get us prepare for competition with a Table Topics session that followed contest rules. Well done. The questions were interesting - and challenging.
Nice job by Woody as Toastmaster last night. I was particularly glad to see the smooth introduction he did of Bob.
Finally, congratulations Bob for completing his 5th speech - reaching his 1/2 CC
Great meeting everyone. Now please sign up for roles for the next meeting.
